Through our International Sponsorship Fund (ISF) we’ve been supporting music education projects around the world for ten years. Along the way we’ve helped thousands of learners and teachers to make progress on their musical journeys.

The latest programmes to receive grants from the fund are based in India, the Dominican Republic and South Africa and have been chosen for their commitment to providing music learning opportunities, with a focus on inclusivity, wellbeing and community engagement.

The Gandhi Ashram School near Darjeeling in West Bengal uses its music programme to enrich the lives of its students as they develop a wide range of skills. The ISF grant will enable the school to offer ukulele and melodica tuition and upgrade its facilities, in addition to existing ensemble, composition and improvisation activities.

La Escuela Paralela attracts more than 500 double bass players to a weekly outdoor session of learning and playing in a Santo Domingo park. The initiative, which is available to children, young people and adults, will use its ISF grant to rent a dedicated space near the park, support tuition and buy instruments for participants where cost is a significant barrier.

Education Africa is looking to expand its Marimba Hub programme in South Africa. Currently reaching 1,100 children each week from disadvantaged communities, Education Africa will use its funding to support the creation of a new hub in the Northern Cape where children can come together to learn to play the marimba, make music with others and build confidence in a safe environment.

Our sponsorship and partnership activities are central to our mission to enrich lives through inspiring musical achievement. These exciting and vital programmes all open up opportunities for people to access, and progress in music and we hope our funding will make a real difference, whether it’s by paying for teaching materials and instruments or providing safe places to store them. We look forward to finding out how they’re getting on in the year ahead!
